British Landscape looking through ivy

My paintings explore an emotional connection to nature - whether tranquillity and calm or energy and rejuvenation. I am moved by the way light falls on the land as well as shapes and lines in open space. This provides my visual stimulation exploring what it means to be human and how quiet contemplation can achieve a sense of place, and wonder.

My approach is experimental and energetic. Working in series and with multiple layers, I try to reveal the rawness of the landscape and what lies beneath by using strong value contrasts, variations in texture, fluctuating amounts of detail, and free mark making. I use a limited colour palette and mix my colours to reflect the light and mood of the place.

I exhibit regularly at fairs, including the Contemporary Art Fairs and the Fresh Art Fair in Cheltenham. I recently have had two paintings selected for the Society of Women Artists. I am represented by the Flint Gallery in Blakeney, Norfolk and the Hadfield Fine Art in the Cotswolds.
