32a Joanne Bowes

I am the Owner of The Workhouse Gallery. We will have a programme of Artist Demonstrations and Workshops, on 9 September there is a Heritage Craft Market in Ashton Square.

I am a Degree-educated natural dyer/contact printer, who creates handmade sketchbooks and scarves; nature-inspired stitched textiles and semi-abstract watercolour landscapes using handmade, natural dye pigments.

My love of natural forms, colours and textures is seen in my sketchbook exploration of local and visited landscapes; experiments with making my own pigments and the revelations of the printmaking process. I am excited by the unexpected joys discovered in the natural dye pot and in leaf prints together with the ‘out of the blue’ results of Cyanotypes, developed in the sun.

I am always looking to develop my craft. I love to combine processes such as print, collage and batik. I frequently reuse old textiles, prints and artwork. I also enjoy creating project work based on local and social history.

32d Michael Harris Wilson

Connections One by Michael Harris Wilson

Michael is a creative and conservation artist who absolutely enjoys producing colourful and pleasing artworks. His aim is to brighten up and help improve the well-being of people, and inspire them to incorporate art and nature into their lives. Creativity is part of him, which goes hand in hand with a deep respect of and interest in, our natural environment.
His individual paintings are suitable for brightening up both the home and workplace.
We are gifted by imagination, and he makes great use of this before starting on new projects. He often experiments with shapes and their locations to show imagined motions. And uses different tools and materials to create textures, thus giving a tactile touch to the painting surface, which can also be explored by persons with limited senses.
