Description for Website

Barbara Burrows
I am currently enjoying recreating old family photographs in both monochrome and also using very vibrant colours- in both oils and acrylics. I am also exploring the challenge of capturing the energy and the gestures within group interactions. I like to represent a brief moment in time, or a memory, in a new, creative way.
Previously I have painted on silk- painting the nude figure using these rich colours. I continue with life drawing classes and attend various painting groups and workshops.
I studied Fine Art as my main subject for my teaching degree. Working in Primary schools, mostly with Early Years children, I had lots of opportunities to work with enthusiastic and experimental students. Whilst this was a great experience and a wonderful artistic environment, I didn’t have much time for my own art. I now have the luxury of more time to spend painting and drawing, visiting exhibitions and experimenting with a variety of media.
