Discover Art on Your Doorstep – Herts Open Studios 2026

This September, step inside the creative world of Hertfordshire’s artists.

Herts Open Studios returns from 5–27 September, inviting you to explore studios, meet artists, and discover unique, handmade work across the county.

For three weeks only, artists open their doors to the public, offering a rare opportunity to see where and how art is made. From painting and printmaking to ceramics, jewellery, textiles and more, you’ll find an inspiring array of work in studios, homes, galleries and pop-up venues.

Whether you’re an art lover, a curious visitor, or simply looking for something different to do, Open Studios is a chance to:

• Meet local artists and hear the stories behind their work
• Watch demonstrations and see creative processes in action
• Buy original artwork directly from the maker
• Explore new places across Hertfordshire

With venues spread across towns and villages—including St Albans, Hitchin, Harpenden and beyond—you can plan your own art trail and enjoy a creative day out (or several!).

All venues are free to visit, and everyone is welcome.
