Using drawing and painting techniques, I’m developing a new series of work inspired by my ever-changing surroundings.
After years of honing traditional techniques and following established guidelines, I’ve come to realise that what I truly seek in my art is play and freedom. While the landscape and shifting weather remain my core inspiration, it’s now the spirit of exploration, risk-taking, and confidence that lead the way. Colour is a major focus for me, as well as a constant search for light.
Through my work, I aim to create uplifting pieces that capture the joy and positivity I’ve experienced since moving to this part of the country. We relocated from the Midlands a year ago, and I’m still thriving — discovering new places, meeting new people, and embracing a vibrant way of life. It’s easy to feel alive in my artwork when the world around me is so rich in colour, both in the landscape and the communities we’ve found ourselves part of.
Blending the traditional foundation of my Fine Art degree from Edinburgh College of Art with a newfound love of play and spontaneity has opened an exciting new path for me creatively. I love sharing these approaches in my studio workshops in Whitwell, while also taking time to deepen and develop my own practice.
