Daniella is an MA architect and self-taught artist based in Hitchin. Working intuitively with palette knives, she paints from instinct rather than observation, allowing each image to emerge organically. Her practice, which she terms Viscerism, treats painting as a process of emotional construction—layering colour and form without preconception.
“I paint not from the eye, but from the gut. My work begins without a subject or plan — just the urgent need to create. Using palette knives, I layer colour guided by instinct and feeling. I don’t design the image; it reveals itself. Each painting is a construction of feeling — a moment of internal truth made visible. Through my artwork, I aim to convey feeling rather than illustrate, inviting each viewer to meet my inner world and bring their own experiences to the piece.
I strive to create works that are alive, instinctive, and emotional — a shared experience between painting and observer. I know a work is finished when a clear image reveals itself to me, often semi-abstract in nature. Yet I welcome the fact that others may see something entirely different — a reflection of their own experience.”
