Ruth Sacks Ceramics at Six Perspectives

Glaze movement and texture on a stoneware vase

Ruth Sacks is a ceramicist whose work is inspired by the natural world and more recently, by world events. Her work often features natural motifs such as leaves and patterns found in nature as well as more abstract themes expressed in texture. Working from her garden studio, she creates pieces that reflect a deep connection to nature and the calming qualities of clay.

Ruth first discovered ceramics over 30 years ago whilst living in Hong Kong where she attended twice weekly pottery classes. On her return to London, Ruth continued her work with ceramics by acheiving a Level 3 City and Guilds in Ceramic Design.

After many years running workshops and facilitating art and pottery classes at her successful studio, Fired Treasures, she witnessed first-hand how creative practice can relieve stress, and promote well-being. She completed an MA in Integrative Child Psychotherapy, expanding her ability to support children and young people with their mental health.

Today, Ruth combines her psychotherapeutic practice with teaching and making ceramics, maintaining a balance between creativity, care and emotional connection through her work.
