Contemporary creative basketry made using willow, soft basketry materials, found natural media, and a slow-craft ethos.
On show are some thought-provoking and interesting basketry forms. They have been created on, around, or embellished with, some unusual natural materials. Some are experimental. I like to include materials that hold meaning; perhaps for the story they tell, the location in which they were found, or the memory they somehow hold. Using my skills to construct and weave in this free-form, loose collaboration between maker and material is to begin a journey with an unknown end; and, as always, it is the journey that matters …
Alongside this latest contemporary work will be a selection of more familiar woven willow items including baskets, dragonflies, birdfeeders, and plant supports amongst others. All handmade by me using gorgeous sustainable willow!
