I have been teaching Art and painting for 17 years. My paintings are about finding peace and joy in creating recognisable landscapes through semi abstract idiosyncratic mark making. i am drawn to the sea and the colour blue. i am exploring alternative methods of mark making and paint application. I hope they create feelings of space, light, movement and distance. I am inspired by walking the landscapes of Britain often visiting Devon, Cornwall, Wales, North York Moors and Suffolk. Providing plenty of inspiration and memories.
i like to use what’s at hand including acrylics, oils, watercolours and Gouache. However I love the spontaneity of watercolours. Not knowing how exactly it’s going to go keeps me on my toes. Watercolours force me to be in the moment, you have to watch and concentrate for changes in the washes, adding new layers as you build up form the lighter colours.
i enjoy painting and drawing from life.
