Flowers and leaves are often the inspiration to my designs. I have taken a real flower to dissect so I can understand the construction. I then recreate it with silver sheet and wire so the end result is light yet robust. I have made a pair of delicate fuchsia earrings each will be slightly different to the other. I use some ancient techniques like the lost wax method of casting shells and acorns in silver and gold. I make Viking loop in loop chains and flower chains for necklaces. All made carefully by hand and soldered for strength. The Keum Boo method of heating and applying pressure to combine 24ct gold and fine silver, results in beautiful contrasting colours. Milling a leaf or fabric on soft sterling silver, embosses beautiful patterns and textures to the surface of the metal. Coloured stones add sparkle.
All my work is done at my studio by hand using metals and stones sourced in Hatton Garden. They are one off pieces as no two items are exactly identical.
