Visit Alex McIntyre’s studio and a curated exhibition in her home featuring guest artists Nicholas Cheeseman and Richard Heys. Connected through Free Painters and Sculptors, these artists share an ongoing dialogue around painting, materiality and process.
Alex McIntyre’s work explores colour relationships, surface, texture and the sensual language of paint. Rooted in responses to the natural world, her paintings move between poetry, representation and abstraction. Working in acrylic she layers, carves and glazes to create atmosphere, space and light.
Nicholas Cheeseman’s paintings investigate imperfection, change and impermanence, drawing on the Japanese aesthetic of Wabi-Sabi. Using skins of acrylic paint, scraped layers and drawn marks, his works emerge through construction, deconstruction and restoration.
Richard Heys creates non-figurative paintings that act as doorways into inner space, inviting attention to surface, depth and presence. He makes contemplative works that are tactile, emotional and immersive.
This exhibition extends beyond display into artistic practice itself: a conversation between three painters connected by friendship, curiosity and mutual respect. It celebrates the importance of artists creating community, sharing ideas and sustaining creative exchange.
Visit to be part of the conversation, encounter painting differently, and reflect on how art can connect us through looking, making and thinking together.
