Gill Ayre is a painter, inspired by landscape, treading the boundary between representation and abstraction.
Her work is primarily process driven, often incorporating collage and mixed media, initially responding to what is happening on the working surface, allowing a semblance of landscape to emerge out of successive layers, partially revealing, partially obscuring what came before.
A practicing artist since graduating with First Class Honours in Fine Art from the University of Bedfordshire in 2010, Gill works out of her home studio in Hertfordshire, regularly exhibiting and selling work through galleries, exhibitions, and art fairs, both locally and further afield.
