Sally Taylor at Prehistoric Futures

Stag in blue grass

Sally graduated from the Central School of Art & Design in 1979 with a BA (Hons) in Textile Design. Since then, she has enjoyed a wide-ranging career, always keeping creativity and design at its core. A few years ago, she followed her passion fully by becoming a freelance artist and illustrator, and more recently completed a Master’s degree with Distinction in Children’s Book Illustration at the University of Hertfordshire.

Sally loves discovering new techniques and embraces the challenge of learning and growing as an artist. This curiosity, combined with her developing technical skills, continues to inspire her creative journey. She finds real joy in producing artwork that reflects her personality and her unique perspective on the world.

Her work has been exhibited across Hertfordshire, including Open Studios and the Big Art Fair, and can also be seen at the Business Technology Centre in Stevenage and Wenta’s Enterprise Agency in Potters Bar. Her portfolio includes a rich variety of subjects, from landscapes and well-known portraits to animals, birds, and vibrant floral pieces.

More recently, Sally has applied her skills to a public art project in Stevenage Old Town, designing artwork for a BT Exchange box. Inspired by Mediterranean plants, the piece cleverly incorporates British wildlife such as a stag, badger, foxes, rabbits, and smaller creatures. The finished artwork can be found outside Lolo’s café on the High Street.
