Elaine Kelly

Elaine grew up in Wales & this is where her passion for painting and drawing started . Elaine obtained a BA in Fine Art from the University of Wales before moving to Hertfordshire where she spent nearly 10 years living on a canal boat. It was here that she first found her love of making kiln formed glass pieces, inspired by the continuing natural forms and scenery around her. Elaine now lives near Bedford and she has her own on-site studio where the vibrant work is created.

Elaine also works part time as a print technician/tutor at a local FE college and also dabbles with photography and ceramics when she has time. When creating new pieces, Elaine enjoys working with the number of processes involved with each medium to achieve the finished result. As each layer is produced, new thoughts and emotions combine to inspire Elaine’s next piece of work.

Elaine’s travels abroad have also provided regular inspiration as she has experienced many different countries and cultures. Through these travels, Elaine’s latest inspiration has manifested itself in acrylic inks & spray paint. Images and colours are layered over each other, combining to create depth & symbolism.

Elaine has combined her glass work with antiques and has exhibited her work extensively across Hertfordshire, Wales and in London.
Elaine regularly runs workshops at her studio in Bedford where learners can work with glass, prints & eco-printing.
