32e Lesley Pollock at Gallery 32

I make all the jewellery in my small studio at home. I studied jewellery-making at City Lit College in London. Each piece is thought about, then drawn. All pieces are my own design. Durability, comfort, and appearance must all be considered before the jewellery is made. Having been a biology teacher, I am interested in the shapes and forms of leaves and flowers so these figure a good deal in my jewellery. I use many techniques when making pieces such as lost wax casting, soldering chains, and stone setting. I often visit Hatton Garden as this is where the silver and stones are acquired. Wax models which I have sculptured are also cast in Hatton Garden. Making jewellery is quite physical when manipulating the silver and can be dirty work polishing to a fine finish. The reward is in the final article and, of course, when someone buys and wears the piece.
