The work is usually linked to the idea of ' sense of place', an attempt to capture a feeling or mood of a particular type of landscape. Increasingly drawn to the idea of ' Thin Places' where in the Celtic tradition such places are sacred landscapes . The Celtic saying is that ' heaven aand earth are only three feet apart, but in the thin places that distance is even smaller.
The work is in a range of media including oil, acrylic and watercolour, shifting scale as appropriate.
The paintings respond to the sublime natural landscapes of Scotland, Ireland and Norfolk as well as to his locality of Hertfordshire.
