My Open Studio in Hemel Hempstead features a real mix of media: illustration (ink & watercolour, & digital); semi-abstract painting in acrylics; photography.
Daily sketchbook journaling has been my comfort zone & wellbeing time for several years. I have stacks of books to browse through! This habit has led to accepting commissions, including maps for local councils, artist residencies & doing live event guest illustrations. You can view original artworks from the new Nash Mills Parish Council map, and a slideshow of elements from Dacorum’s 50th anniversary artwork, as displayed in the Forum.
My photography focuses on the natural beauty & countryside of Hertfordshire: landscapes, birds and flowers. Multiple images taken in a single location are layered & blended to create an impressionist painterly effect.
Inspired by my photography techniques, creating impressionism through layers of bright colours & different angles of the same subject, I am exploring a new (for me) style of painting – creating a series of semi-abstract landscapes of my walks in the local area, coastal paths in Wales & beyond!
Some illustrations & photography are available for purchase as wall art, tea towels, mugs & greetings cards.
You can also see my experiments with textiles & foraged fibres, and sketchbooks filled with projects from my weekly art groups, as I work towards developing a sustainable practice that incorporates the local environment, with connections to the community.
