Inspired and influenced by travelling in South America, after a successful career in Design & Art Direction, Julie returned to London to start up a her own design consultancy.
Now, dedicated to her own art practice, you’ll find her in the studio creating work that reflects her background in graphics.
Julie has formed an instinctive design strategy when working on a painting, she trusts her feelings as to which composition, mood and harmony works for her.
Her paintings are not self conscious, representational landscapes, rather, they become a part of who she is in that moment and the result is a ‘mindscape’. She doesn’t depict any particular place or have a specific image in mind other than what the painting ultimately becomes. Delicate plays of light and dark and the overall atmosphere of her work are more crucial than the subject.
Working in layers, she glazes colours to enrich her brushwork, creating a contemporary painting.
