I create my artworks with coloured pencils and pan pastels, as pan pastels have a nice free flowing way to create interesting backgrounds. I also use them to create a base colour when I am drawing cats to which I then apply pencil layers to create the more vivid details. When I am drawing people I only use pan pastels for the background, then use coloured pencils completely for the person as I like to burnish the colours of the pencils together to create a nice soft blend of skin tones and textures. My art mostly has a cat theme in there somewhere as I am most definitely a cat lady 😸. I will be joining HVA artists at the Henderson Hub in Abbots Langley for the Open Studios where I’ll be showcasing fine art giclée prints of my work.
