Skevi is a self-taught artist creating striking and unique resin artworks. Her artwork decorates homes, offices and hotels globally.
Born in London, Skevi is a self-taught artist working primarily with resin, producing unique and colourful contemporary creations. She first started painting using acrylics whilst managing a trading system for an investment bank in New York in 2000. Skevi painted to unwind and relieve the stresses of the day, reflecting in her paintings her mood and emotions.
Skevi started using resin in 2016 when she saw the beautiful gloss finish it produced. Skevi loves the challenges the medium brings as it is quite unpredictable with its fluid nature. Another big challenge is keeping dust at bay whilst it cures for 8-12 hours. Resin is also sensitive to temperature changes but she finds the results are worth it every time.
After 13 years in Singapore and seeing many blank walls, Skevi felt inspired to produce colourful statement pieces. She finds inspiration from nature, her general love of colour and her love of the ocean, loving it’s natural beauty yet fearing it’s power.
By mixing her mediums into the resin and understanding how different mediums behave in the resin, Skevi is able to create her unique works of art, each piece alive with movement and depth. This is made possible by the transparency and fluidity of resin, building up layers to create unique and exciting effects. Skevi spends a lot of time experimenting with the resin in order to create new effects to ensure her work is constantly evolving.
Skevi has also dedicated time to produce beautiful statement piece contemporary art tables which can be used as coffee tables or desks. Like her wall art, these are always a hot topic of conversation.
Her works have raised money for a variety of charities, via auction, such as Kick Sarcoma, Kampuchea Balopp, a non-profit organisation in Cambodia and the ATLAS Foundation. She has also helped raise funds for local clubs she supports (Tring Park Cricket Club, Berkhamsted Cricket Club and Tring Rugby Club), during the Covid-19 outbreak by donating a percentage of her sales to the clubs.
Skevi has successfully exhibited several times in Singapore and the UK. Her artwork decorates homes and offices and hotels in the USA, Germany, Japan, Singapore, Australia and the UK, several of which were commissioned pieces.
Skevi relocated to Hertfordshire, UK, with her family in the summer of 2017 where she continues to follow her passion of painting and pushing the boundaries of resin which can be seen in her latest works.
