Sarah Custance began her career as an architect with a passion for pen and ink drawing. She graduated in 2007 from the Bartlett School of Architecture, UCL and received the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) national award for Excellence in Architectural Drawing.
Sarah worked for 15 years in London as an Architect at award winning and internationally renowned practices - most recently as a Director at Fourfoursixsix Architects.
Sarah has remained passionate about drawing and visually capturing the uniqueness of buildings, spaces, places and materials.
In 2020, Sarah started to experience insomnia and drawing has become key to her recovery - if she draws she sleeps better. Through this journey, Sarah has rediscovered her love of drawing. So now, she draws.
Her style layers pen, ink and pencil drawing with watercolour, acrylic and metallic paint.
Following 20 years in London, Sarah now lives in Hitchin, Hertfordshire with her husband Tim and twin children Elsa and Orson.
