Laura specialises in colour pencil creating highly detailed colour rich and life like pet and wildlife portraits. Working from your photographs, she endeavours to capture their personality in a long lasting keepsake.
Laura has loved drawing ever since she was at school but always felt restricted by what was expected. She never felt the school system allowed her to draw something just because she liked it. She completed a degree in Art and Education studies in 2007 and qualified as a primary school teacher in 2008. She taught in various different schools over the years full time and part time.
In 2021, she hurt her back and needed something to occupy her time while she recovered. She fell in love with drawing again and for the first time tried colour pencil as a medium. Sadly, her parent's dog passed away so she decided to draw her as tribute and a gift for her Mum's birthday. Laura Creates began!
In September 2022, she left her teaching job to work on her commissions and wildlife drawings almost full time and care for her young family. Now she draws pets and animals just because she loves it!
