I am a painter and art teacher based in St Albans, inspired by nature, nostalgia and surface patterns of the past.
After gaining a BSc in Textile Design in the 90’s, I worked in the fashion industry for a number of years before starting a family. Then during a career break in recent years I rediscovered my passion for making art and haven't stopped since.
My artwork is semi-abstract, layered and vibrant with a decorative edge. I predominately work in acrylic and ink as they mix well with so many mediums. I like to experiment with varying textures and transparencies when painting, incorporating layers with paper collage and printing techniques. The tangle of nature lends itself to this approach and botanical imagery often features in my work.
Along with my job in secondary education, I have taught abstract painting workshops for complete beginners in St Albans (Cositas) and Chesham (Where Inspiration Blooms).
