Artist Bio
Sarah completed a fine art diploma with distinction at Amersham college.
Following on from this Sarah trained as a florist in London. She eventually ran her own successful business producing unique floral designs and displays.
In recent years Sarah has returned to her passion of painting. Having completed various courses and being self-taught, Sarah has built up her portfolio.
Sarah’s art is demonstrated through an expressive, contemporary realistic and abstract painting style.
Lately Sarah has been exploring different ways of applying paint and texture, creating layers of colour, and effects on canvas that produce a more abstract result. On some of her paintings she has been using her many years as a creative and sculptural florist, to begin to integrate natural materials, onto her designs on canvas, that give a more 3-dimensional appearance.
Artist Statement
I am constantly being drawn to interpret atmospheres and create movement on a page or a canvas, frequently depicting emotions, momentary expressions, and dimensions.
My love for the beauty and force of nature beckons me to observe those small seemingly un-noticed things as well as to the obvious. This passionately drives me to bring whatever piece I am working on to life. I often use animals to illustrate symbolism that represent different facets of love, joy, hope, peace, compassion determination and power etc…
I work in acrylic, oil and mixed media depending on the subject and effect I want to produce, then regularly using soft pastel for animal portraits.
