Artists statement

Creating emotional connections through a visual story. My work is informed and inspired by a combination of nature & urban landscapes, couture fashion design & street style, interior design statements and a spectrum of classical and contemporary artists. The different textures and natural mark makings we see in every day are of great influence. Using a mixed media approach of acrylic, emulsion and watercolour paints on canvas and card I create abstract and designed imagery that is influenced from an education in printed textiles and a career in Visual Merchandising and Styling. Colour balance, texture and explorative mark making are key themes that help shape each piece.

The process of creating each individual work is a highly immersive experience and my intent is to continue that immersion and emotional connection from the art to the audience. Simply provoking a feeling or emotion through the art is both rewarding and inspiring. Open to interpretation, each of my pieces are both a joy to create and a complete freedom of expression from daily life.
