Sarah Warrs

Hi, I’m Sarah and I am all about mixed media!

I’m an absolute colour junkie and a lover of all things worn and tattered!

My work is a combination of abstract and realism. I intertwine colour with tactile layering of old papers, hand drawings, paints, inks and sometimes textiles and stitch. All are blended together to make something new and beautiful.

I am hugely inspired by nature, graffiti, old fairgrounds, abandoned buildings, history and culture. My work always begins loosely and intuitively. I let my materials lead the way to allow interesting combinations to build and flourish as we journey along together. Our destination is always a bit of an unknown!

I love to combine energetic patterns and marks to create positive energy and good feeling. My love of the worn and decayed twisting together with my passion for colour in tactile layers of paint, collage, fabric and hand stitching. Soft undertones mix with vibrant pops of colour to uplift and energise. I create on impulse and go with my heart letting my work flow naturally as it progresses to its own conclusion. My uninhibited and spontaneous layering has an unrehearsed and playful style which can create vulnerable yet powerful combinations. An infusion of vivid colour and graffiti like marks result in unexpected yet beautiful juxtapositions.
