Sarah Gidden

I am a fine artist specialising in oils. I am fascinated by trying to capture light, whether it be in the sky, in a portrait or reflected through water.

My artistic career began in 1995 when I studied Fine Art at the Southampton Institute. I first discovered my love for oil painting and photography at this time. I focused on portraits which were heavily influenced by David Hockney and Gerhard Richter. In 1998 I sold out my degree show and exhibited in 2 galleries in Southampton. In 2001 I completed a teacher training course, and gained a PGCE in art and Design at Middlesex University. I have loved teaching Art to all ages and have experience of teaching primary, secondary, adults and U3A.
