A ‘people’ photographer short of work during lockdown, I stumbled across a photographic technique known as Generative Adversarial Networks (GAN) photography. This was originally developed to generate new photographs from an existing database of images, however it can also be used to influence one image by introducing another. Depending on the images chosen the results can be calm, painterly, vibrant, abstract or a combination of all of those and more. Encouraged by the success of this style of image at exhibition, I have broadened my experimentation to include editing photographs to give the appearance of being watercolour paintings and moving away from photography altogether to create images using only my imagination (and Artificial Intelligence). Recent commissions have included a request for an image of Ashridge College in the style of Vincent Van Gogh, a watercolour-esque treatment of Apsley Marina and an imagined piece in the style of mediaeval painter Heironimus Bosch.

I am happy to discuss commissions to create bespoke images either from the client’s image or one of my own that might meet a particular requirement – a soothing image for a dentists waiting room for example.

For display purposes my images are giclee prints on A3 watercolour paper, however other sizes can be created and prints can also be provided on other media from postcards to large canvasses.
