Born on the Suffolk coast, Julie continues to draw inspiration from the shoreline and vast open skies. She works across drawing, painting and photography, using inks, acrylics, oils and pastels on paper and deep box canvases. Her semi abstract style is loose, expressive and painterly with a particular sensitivity to colour and harmonious palettes. She is drawn to familiar subjects and the changing qualities of the seasons, using them as opportunities to explore and reflect on connections and the passing of time.  

Personal associations often influence her choice of subject, with ideas around memory, separation, abandonment and loss informing what draws her to particular places, objects and moments.
