Jill believes that the Arts can help people. She taught Art to a wide age range for many years and also enjoyed helping with Community events such as the ‘Advent Windows’ in Welwyn. Since retiring she would describe herself as a Community Artist. She has helped on a voluntary basis at Libraries with Toddlers Tales and Museums with projects such as “The Pickling Project” at St Albans Museum and workshops.
Jill completed a course in Art Therapy and Mindfulness at the University of Hertfordshire. The course made Jill want to become more involved in the Therapeutic role of the Arts. It also reinforced the enjoyment of creativity outdoors and being more aware of the importance of the senses. Jill enjoys being a member of the Welwyn Hatfield HVA group.
Last year Jill enjoyed exhibiting at Kimpton Art Show and Living Crafts at Hatfield House where she was delighted that
“Home Grown” was selected for the showcase marquee. Jill also exhibited at VineyART at Lokkelebery Vineyard where she demonstrated Cyanotypes. She enjoys how an artist, nature, the senses, elements and light react together to create images. Jill has produced a variety of paintings, cyanotypes and mixed media. She has been experimenting with materials and techniques such as Anthotypes that are more kind to the environment. Jill has been inspired by the Hilma AF Klint and Piet Mondrian exhibition at Tate Modern and hopes to develop her knowledge of using Botanical inks this summer. Jill is currently exhibiting work in Norfolk and is looking forward to exhibiting again at the Howard Centre with the Welwyn Hatfield group.
