Jane has held a long term fascination with enamelling, since visiting Limoges, at the time of the International Enamelling Exhibition many years ago. The visual impact of enamel, layers upon layers of enamel (powdered glass) on fine silver and copper was enduring . Enamelled items also last !
Following a career in education, she has had the time to develop an experimental approach to enamels, through exploration and opportunities for working with a number of mentors in the Guild of Enamellers. Her enamelling work is smaller scale, on copper and some fine silver. She makes many types of jewellery, brooches, earrings, pendants, bracelets and also small bowls and dishes and autumn leaves.
Enamelled pieces are unique. Each piece of work is put into a very hot kiln for perhaps 2 minutes at a time , then cooled and cleaned, but then this is repeated over a couple of hours and this builds up the depth of colour on the metal on both sides. A process Jane describes as something close to alchemy !

Jane has recently relocated to Hertfordshire from Bristol, and has created a studio in her new home. She has been successfully involved with a number of Arts Trails and Fairs in Bristol and Devon , helping to organise many Trails and has had work in various locations in the West Country .
She has recently been accepted as member of the Wynd Gallery in Letchworth and is very much looking forward to being part of the Hertfordshire Arts world.
