JALA

Jane List, whose prints appear under the pen name JALA, began printmaking regularly in 2021. With mixed recollections of lino-printing at school, it was only in 2018 at an open day at the Fitzwilliam museum in Cambridge that she re-discovered the magic of mixing colours under a press, and was inspired to have another go at printmaking!. Jane’s self-guided pathway since then has taken her on a tour of different approaches to printmaking and has included tuition from Louise Stebbing, Anne Desmet, Susi Turner, Jen Goulding, Andy McKenzie. Over the last three years Jane has created many colourful prints, usually in small variable editions of five or six, using a variety of techniques mainly collagraph, lino, monoprint, silkscreen, and solar plate. Her subjects are typically natural objects, urban and rural landscapes, and still life. Jane is a member of the Royston Lino Printmakers group using the Columbia Press at Royston museum.

Jane will be showing Litlington Clunch Pit in the Letchworth Open exhibition this year.
