Helen Clarke’s work engages with the materiality of place to interrogate the entangled nature of contemporary relationships with the landscape. Clarke weaves aspects of folklore, heritage crafts and rural life with material culture to investigate the cycles and systems of time, fertility and production, considering both ecological histories and futures. Helen escaped life in the corporate IT world to become a visual artist. Currently living in Hertfordshire and working in London she completed her MA in Sculpture from the Royal College of Art in 2023. Her work was selected for New Contemporaries 2023, has been shortlisted for the High Prize for Excellence in 2023 and won a commission with Chanel to create the award for the Chanel NEXT prize.
