I am motivated by a life long connection to the natural world around us instilled as a small child .And the loss of those dear to me that grounded me in this connection. After time taken over by overwhelming grief I decided instead to celebrate and honour with joy and freedom the shiny souls whose time has gone far too soon. Mary Oliver says “Tell me, what is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life” My answer is a fierce and instinctive desire to be creative and to share that with people.
I am a multi media/mixed media artist ,photographer and teacher, using recycled and found or foraged objects to create work wherever possible in a sustainable way.. My work is grounded in the outdoors, both on my doorstep …my garden and allotment or out walking and exploring. I grow stuff and forage for stuff. I’m a plant nerd and like to make use of botanicals in as many ways possible ….. ecoprint, gelli print, heat print , cyanotype and anthotype , botanical inks, natural dyed fabrics and use them in textile pieces and collage. Going back to my roots ( environmental sciences degree ) the art / science crossover is fascinating to me. Plus I paint and draw in many different media and styles depending on the day.
I have practiced many artforms and my main drive is a desire to experiment and see what happens. Forever curious, always thinking…. I wonder what will happen if I do that?
Eclectic and learning to be unapologetically so.
Creative facilitator and community artist. Run regular workshops and work with many types of groups.
