Clare Timmis

My practice comes from sketching and sculpting from life, often using recyclable materials (1990s).

Since young, I have handcrafted with textiles, wood, clay – stencilling, sewing, modelling etc.

Although, I’ve kept my sculptural installations to a minimum in the last ten years or so,  it’s still important in my practice, working with texture and space.

In regular diary sketches and watercolours, I work with challenging landscapes and portraiture, developing my semi-abstract mixed-media artworks.

In the last 20 years,  I’ve set up adhoc art projects, workshops, exhibiting in solo and group ‘socially engaging’ green environmental projects and shows, in London and Herts., in between  completing an MA in Fine art at UAL, Chelsea, following breast cancer in between care/support work.
