Amber Mayhew

I am a self-taught artist from Hemel Hempstead, focusing mainly on watercolour paintings. ย My artistic ability was first recognised at the age of four, when my nursery teacher, on the verge of retirement, remarked that she had never encountered such talent in a child during her career. From childhood onward, art has been my greatest passion and creative outlet.

Professionally, I trained as a nursery nurse and later qualified as a primary school teacher, where I continue to share my love of the arts with to help them children unearth their own unique potential and celebrate their differences. In my mid-twenties, I turned more seriously to painting as a way of managing the challenges of living with inflammatory bowel disease. Art quickly became not only a source of comfort, but also a powerful means of expression and joy.

Today, I take great pride in my work, often creating alongside my son and inspiring his own artistic journey. I remain dedicated to producing artwork that both enriches my own life and brings enjoyment to others.

I am exhibiting at the Henderson Hub in Abbots Langley for Herts Open Studios 2025.
