Five Minutes of Green
An exhibition of work by Nadine Sender

I am inspired by the changing landscape and focus my work on the small, fleeting moments that often pass unnoticed. Through drawing, painting and printmaking, I explore the beauty found in the overlooked details of the natural world, particularly birds, weeds, grasses and wild plants that are frequently dismissed as unwanted.
Much of my inspiration comes from my daily cycle to work through woodland and riverside environments. These journeys allow me to observe and document the subtle rhythms of seasonal change, shifting light and the quiet transformations that occur over time. The landscape provides a constantly evolving source of inspiration, revealing moments of beauty and resilience that might otherwise be overlooked in the pace of everyday life.
Careful observation lies at the heart of my practice. I am interested in encouraging viewers to slow down and look more closely at the world around them, finding significance in the ordinary and beauty in the disregarded. Through close studies of plants, tangled hedgerows, riverbanks and roadside vegetation, I elevate subjects often seen as insignificant, celebrating their forms, textures and their ability to thrive in unexpected places.
My background in fine art, theatre, set design and prop making also informs my work, bringing a strong sense of composition, narrative and atmosphere to my practice. This influence can be seen in the way I select and frame moments from the landscape, creating artworks that invite contemplation and connection.
Ultimately, my work is a celebration of the unnoticed: the weeds pushing through cracks in the pavement, the grasses catching the evening light, the birds hidden among branches and the subtle shifts that mark the passage of time. By capturing these quiet moments, I seek to reveal the beauty, resilience and significance of the overlooked natural world, encouraging a renewed appreciation for the landscapes that surround us every day.
