12a Lynne Watkins at Artists in the Wood

Celtic pennanular brooch, with amethysts and garnet. Mixed metals.

I make mixed metal jewellery. I love the combination of copper, brass and silver. I use as many recycled materials as I can, and often repurpose old broken jewellery. I use mainly traditional silversmithing methods to create my work. These methods go back centuries, and many of the tools used have hardly changed in all that time. I am inspired by historical jewellery, wildlife, pets, and world geology. I have a love for natural semi precious stones and often incorporate these into my pieces. Visitors are welcome to try their hand at sawing metal or soldering, and we are supporting the wonderful Macmillan Charity on our last Saturday of opening.

I am sharing a studio space in Bricket Wood with two other artists for this year’s Open Studios.
