Broadway Gallery: Artist of the Month Space
Letchworth Garden City
We are offering our small Artist of the Month (AoM) space for HVA’s Open Studio.
The space consists of two walls with gallery lighting and can remain unmanned during the gallery’s regular opening hours: Wednesday – Saturday, 10am – 5pm.
The space is suitable for a presentation by a single artist or a pair of artists and must be presented professionally. Due to the size of the space, double hanging or salon-style hanging will not be permitted. The two walls are ideal for displaying approximately 10 small works in a linear manner, with wall one measuring 325 cm and wall two 285 cm. There is also an additional wall above a radiator, ideal for displaying an text panel.
We are unable to manage the sales of your artwork unless you are happy to consign the work to the gallery. In this case, your work will be subject to VAT being added to the sale price, and commission will be deducted from the net sale price. You are welcome to manage your own sales through your website or onsite. However, as we are offering the space free of charge, we kindly ask that you consider making a donation to the gallery if you make any sales.

We will be offering artists table space to demonstrate and show off their artwork, there is no wall space so the display must be suitable to present on a table. The atmosphere will be a working studio, situated in our large workshop space at Artshed Arts, you’ll be with 5 other artists taking part in open studios. You are welcome to run small workshops for one or two people at a time, we can provide chairs.
As we run workshops throughout the week we will be taking part in open studios Saturday – Monday on these dates 5th-7th / 12th-14th / 19th-21st September. Set up will be Saturday morning of each week. Choose the weekend you want to do or do all three if available depending on demand.
There is a fee of £50 per artist per weekend to use our venue (no commission will be taken for art sales)
We can manage the sales of your artwork and take payments for you. In this case, your work will be subject to VAT being added to the sale price, and a fee of £5 admin fee per transaction will be applied. You are welcome to manage your own sales through your website or onsite.

The Southern Maltings offers a large airy, well lit hall space with walls for hanging and available tables. We are looking for a number of 2D artists who want to make a vibrant atmosphere of activity and creativity. Available Thursdays and Fridays Saturdays and Sundays 1- 5pm. (Not available Sunday 13th September). The venue is free of charge. There are opportunities for artist’s demonstations, workshops,and family based activities in the large hall space as well as other available rooms for workshops. Some workshops can be promoted through the Southern Maltings website where the fees for these workshops can offset the venue’s general costs of organisation. There is also a cafe offering hot and cold food and drinks and easy parking. The Southern Maltings is situated in the centre of the town. In the past Open Studios here has attracted enthusiastic participation and interest. This could be an ideal opportunity for young and emerging artists to enjoy exhibiting alongside members who have taken part in Open Studios before.

We have some space at Berkhamsted Civic Centre and potentially two other venues in / near Berkhamsted for both 2d and 3d artists to take part in an exciting large exhibition from Thursday 17th September to Sunday 20th September as part of Herts Open Studios.
The exhibition at the Civic Centre will take place alongside a high quality showcase of work by members of The Buckinghamshire Craft Guild, and we would particularly love quality craftspeople working in any medium, including printmakers, ceramics, glass makers, wood workers, furniture, textiles, jewellery, etc, as well as painters and photographers.
We also have two other potential venues – Largley Meadow Hall in Berkhamsted, next to Berkamsted Leisure Centre, which has recently been refurbished and is a super, self contained and well lit venue with good facilities and its own parking – and Hill Farm Barn on the Ashridge Estate, a lovely rustic barn with cafe next door, which is well situated on the main road from Berhamsted to Ashridge.
