The LAC is holding an open exhibition in their main gallery from the 5th October – 2nd November 2008 and are inviting anyone to come and display his or her artwork. For those who wish to participate, there are opportunities to meet other artists and see what others have accomplished.
This is an open exhibition which is open to everyone!
This includes members, non - members, students, and artists in the public community. There is no restriction on theme, style or media in order to have an exhibition with a diverse range of artwork.
The main gallery is 250sq metres approx and has space for both 2D and 3D artwork in a variety of sizes. Unfortunately, they cannot guarantee to be able to show all work submitted by the artists depending on the number of applicants and space available, but will try to show as many as possible.

The Silk Painters Guild are holding a competition for children between the ages of 4 - 18. They have to paint a piece of silk no bigger than A3 ( 11.7'' x 16.5'' ) based on these themes given to them:
Age group 4 - 8 Years: Flowers / Robots
Age group 9 - 13 Years: Monsters / Space
Age group 14 - 18 Years: Water / Wildlife
The closing date is the 30th August; the winning entry will be annonced on the 13th of September and the work will be on display at Tessa Barnes' Open Studios

Starts Town Hall is a new arts venture based in the beautiful Georgian former Town Hall in St Albans. It is the working partner of St Albans Arts Charity and will deliver the charities artistic policy across St Albans City and District.
We aim to involve the community in workshops and combined arts experiences of all kinds and are looking for dedicated tutors across all disciplines to facilitate workshops - these may be a series of workshops or a one-off.

The Spitalfields, regeneration resulted in the creation of two new public spaces, one of which hosts Prelude art events in a busy public space.
