Caryl Beach
Photography has now become a part of my everyday life, an obsession. I record the landscape that I occupy during my daily activities, just as a diary, noting the mundane and commonplace and the noteworthy, the common theme, the unexpected, the everyday.
One morning I observed sunlight casting light and shadows on my wall, it was early morning, about 5.30; the light was quite strong, but at a low angle. It moved quite quickly across the wall.
From this observation, I then began to record these images, not on a daily basis, but randomly, when I happened to wake up, or when the sun was particularly strong. These ambiguous images of fleeting moments of sunlight create a sense of contemplation and transience.
