I studied painting at Falmouth School of Art and later at The University of Hertfordshire where I graduated with a First Class Honours Degree in Fine Art.
I have taught art at Oaklands College, The University of Hertfordshire and through private art lessons and continue to teach painting and drawing part time.
The starting point for much of my work is often just walking in the landscape. I have a particular interest in ancient sites, where traces of human existence are still visible in the field boundaries, hut circles and standing stones - these give me a strong connection to our ancestors.
Taking these inspirations and feelings back to my studio I find my method of painting is both considered and instinctive, with each mark informing the next. Through composition and draughtsmanship the image emerges, often resulting in a piece of art that is beyond the purely figurative.
