I studied art and design at the University of Hertfordshire, specialising in textiles and printmaking - I later obtained a diploma in textile art from the Open College of the Arts. For many years I worked in textiles and also taught creative textiles to adults and people with special needs. Then when I retired I went back to my first love of painting. I work mainly in acrylic and oils and occasionally mixed media.
My work is inspired by my love of colour and texture as well as a great interest in the natural world. Most of my paintings are representational, although occasionally my work will be abstract. I believe that in many paintings my experience in textile art shows through in the finished picture.
Never to get "stuck in a rut" I continue to experiment and learn new techniques.
