Calling All Artists – an opportunity to exhibit with the Harpenden Arts Club

The 60th Annual Art Exhibition of the Harpenden Arts Club runs from Thursday 8th November (a sparkling Private View Party!) to Sunday 11th November and is held in the Southdown Hall in the Harpenden Public Halls. If you would like to join the Harpenden Arts Club and exhibit your work with them, the deadline for submission of exhibition entry forms is 20 October 2018.

Last year, 59 artists showcased their work in the annual art exhibition and 56 artworks were sold along with hundreds of artists’ greetings cards! A strong committee is working tirelessly to coordinate and publicise this year’s Harpenden Arts Club Exhibition, which promises to be equally as exciting and successful as last year, if not better!

Membership of the Harpenden Arts Club costs £20 pa for HVAF members (normally £25) and entitles you to participate in the annual members exhibition and also in a wide range of artist demonstrations, studio practice evenings, life drawing sessions and art technique workshops which are run from September to May on most Thursday evenings from 7.30 – 9.30pm in the Harpenden Public Halls.

As an additional member benefit, the HAC organises a continuous rolling exhibition of members’ artworks (around 30 at a time) in the Rothamsted Conference Centre restaurant, which is open to the public on weekdays.

For more information on the programme of events, membership, and the exhibition rules and entry form, see or contact Membership Secretary, Peter Brown on

Artists residency - St Albans Cathedral

Artists Residency

St Albans Cathedral is inviting applications for a summer residency for a creative artist with experience in Community Engagement.  We are therefore seeking an Artist in Residence who is able to engage with the history and architecture of the building creatively, and who can put engagement with the community at the heart of their residency.  As the walls of the Cathedral bear the marks of numerous historical 'graffiti', some stretching back the sixteenth century,  we wish for this residency to be particularly focused on the theme of 'graffiti art'.
