Graham is a photographer who draws most of his artistic inspiration from nature, in particular from the textures and shadow seen on trees, leaves, bark, (light), clouds, water, ice, etc
But his fascination with nature does not end there as, whilst admiring the inherent beauty in all these things, he cannot help but use his camera to photograph an interesting object/scene, then look and discover its potential for being transformed or re-imagined with subtle (sometimes not so subtle!) changes in colour or texture. Depending on the original picture, these can, on occasions, develop into an abstract image.
There is no desire to improve on what nature offers us, but simply an impulse to view these things thorough different glasses, or with a different mindset, for a change.
See some of his work on display in Sofas & Stuff in central St Albans during this year’s Open Studios.
