Welcome to my wonderful, whimsical world, where I create fun pieces using hardened fabrics, my inner child, and a sprinkle of magic.
Due to the processes and materials used, every piece is unique and designed to bring a smile to your face. I work with natural fibre fabrics, many being repurposed from clothing, to create highly textured designs. The textures and other embellishments are then further enhanced through hand-painting, using rich colours and shading.
As well as my fabric sculpting, which is quite meticulous and detailed, I also enjoy the freedom and lawlessness of creating abstract paintings and mixed media pieces. These tend to be bold and bright, incorporating texture through different application methods and reflecting my emotions at the time of creating. I am endlessly inspired by textures, colours and patterns. I see these everywhere in nature, and I am frequently awed by its ability to consume and reclaim what mankind leaves behind.
As well as making my curious creations, I also run workshops and provide demonstrations for groups. Please come and chat, or get in touch to find out more about these.
I will be exhibiting at two locations in St Albans during the month of September; at my home address in Jennings Rd on 6–14 Sept, and at Kingsbury Barn on 19-21 Sept and 26– 28 Sept. You will be able to see works in progress as well as finished pieces at both venues.
