June Faulkner enjoys taking and manipulating photographs which inspire her artwork. As well as pen and wash sketches and photos of anything and everything taken on her travels she loves colour, reflections, light, shadow and texture. Using stencils and photographic silk screen printing processes she creates etched devore and silk scarves and hangings, and welcome commissions.
She also enjoys hands on dyeing and silk painting and meeting up with the local Sericum Guild of Silk Painters group. She uses hand decorated papers together with photographs and textiles to create collages and cards.
Maggie makes unique gold, silver and gemstone jewellery inspired by art, literature, history and nature. The colours and textures of Tudor velvets, of the Arnolfini portrait, of the pre-Raphaelites. Textures and colours from nature itself - trees, plants and the stones themselves. Neo-Gothic meets BoHo with a contemporary vibe.
Commissions welcome.
Although I work mainly in acrylic I love to try different media and explore new techniques. Also I use my knowledge of certain types of paint in making items such as coasters and resin jewellery. I love to teach and demonstrate my work in the hope of inspiring others. Equally I am always ready to learn from others.
I am inspired by change and can watch waves, tides and skies for hours. Travel is important to me and different cultures and landscapes give me new ideas for painting. Equally I like to observe the way a familiar landscape changes over the seasons and the different wildlife to be found at different times of the year.
I am fortunate to have a small studio in the garden and there I lose myself as I immerse myself in my painting.
I tutor the Age Concern art group in Ware and teach other classes from time to time. I belong to several local art societies and exhibit regularly.

I am a botanical artist, and after years of disciplined painting, I am now experimenting with different ideas, but still love to add detail, and a bit of sparkle to my work. I love discovering new ways of painting, and am inspired by everything around me.

In my art I always try to convey a sense of movement. Recently I have been experimenting with creating physical animations via flipbooks, lenticulars and Augmented Reality technology.
Rebecca Newman-Smith has a degree in Textile Design from Winchester School of Art. Following graduation she worked in woven textile design before training as a teacher. After taking a break to look after her young family she returned to art and
design, this time in the field of print making. She finds the endless possibilities of print making incredibly exciting and loves to
explore new methods and techniques. Her most recent work has focused on reduction lino cut, playing with line, shape and colour. Her inspiration comes from the natural world around her, in particular the effect of the changing seasons on the flora
and fauna near her home. “I love the combination of the planned and the unplanned that comes with print making. I will often have a vision of what it is I would like to create but sometimes the print has other ideas and I am happy to follow that and see where it takes me. The successful piecing together of layers of reduction lino cut is so exciting!"
I create experimental prints using different techniques as well as continuing to develop my favourite method of lino printing. I continue to explore images in different colours as well as black and white and these are loosely connected by the theme of Land and Sea. I am fascinated by the way that the mark of the tools used create an impression on materials which in turn builds an expression of an experience. Print making enables me to develop the idea through stages of the process, allowing for change and re adjustment along the way. I am not concerned about reproducing exact copies as in commercial print making but rather aim to create each print being a unique statement and variation on the theme. During Open Studios I will offer demos and workshops , suitable to all ages as a short introduction and explanation of this fascinating art activity.
