40a Daniella Coronel Saavedra at Fishponds Road Studio

Daniella, an MA architect and self-taught artist based in Hitchin, UK, has been creating abstract paintings since 2016. Her vibrant works reflect the spirit of South American culture, influenced by her architectural background and experiences in Bolivia, the UK, Switzerland, and Brazil. Trained in Architecture at ITESM in Monterrey and Greenwich University, Daniella transitioned to art after becoming a mother, channelling her passion into expressive, colourful acrylic paintings.
When painting, seized by a creative rapture, Daniella becomes momentarily detached from both environment and thought. In this state, an unstoppable impulse arises — a need to externalize emotion through a tangible image. The painting becomes the vessel through which this inner state materializes into something both representative and real. When this transformation is complete, the painter steps back, relinquishing control. The work is then offered to the viewer — not for explanation, but for imaginative judgment. It invites each observer to explore intimate, personal sensations, making the painting not just seen, but deeply felt.
“When I paint, my focus is on the interplay of colour and composition. I work exclusively with palette knives — not just as tools, but as extensions of my vision. Layer by layer, the image emerges subconsciously, taking form as if from within. Once it appears, I build it with colour, much like constructing in architecture, blending texture, hue, and emotion.”
