2023’s Conference : Creativity in Herts
The 7th Annual HVAF Conference took place on 16th January, at the wonderful The Niland Conference Centre, Bushey Heath.
‘Interesting [presentation] and got really good discussion going’
‘Got us thinking and talking collaboratively’
‘Brilliant, accessible content, well delivered’
‘Excellent improvements on the website’
‘Thank you, a great day’
The recent in-person Members’ Conference attracted lots of positive feedback. The venue set in the grounds of a priory in Bushey Heath was an excellent choice. With car sharing we even scored as eco-warriors. As well as a light airy main meeting room there was a separate breakout room for tea. coffee (both excellent quality) and networking.
Dr Maurizio Catulli from the University of Hertfordshire was the keynote speaker. He gave us lots of food for thought in his talk about ‘Living Hubs’. While some more relevant examples would have been useful, it led to some interesting discussions. We hope it also sparked some ideas for future collaborative projects.
After lunch, the second speaker was Paul Davey from Broadway Gallery in Letchworth. His presentation about different types of galleries was very well received.
The final section of the day focused on HVA with an update from Sally on plans for the future, an insight into opportunities for members to ‘lend a hand’ presented by Val, and a preview by Tony of the new HVA website which will be launched this spring.
The whole event was very well chaired by Sally Taylor and a great opportunity to meet old friends and new contacts. Well worth getting up early to go!
