Karen spent most of her working career in social care, supporting vulnerable adults, during this time she ran art therapy sessions. After more than 25 years she finally gave up her full-time job allowing her to invest more time in developing her own art career.
Working in acrylic, she starts with a brightly coloured canvas, allowing some of the under colour to come through in her work. She uses a large brush to give a painterly effect. She likes to approach traditional subjects in a more contemporary and impressionistic style.
In 2019 her work was voted in the top twenty at Cambridge Open Arts.
In 2019 she was commissioned to undertake a painting to celebrate 40 years of the publication of Masquerade by Kit Williams, she sold limited edition prints as far away as Australia and Canada and has since undertaken commissions for customers in USA. Her work 'Close By Katherine's Cross' is mentioned on the BBC website in relation to the Masquerade Celebrations.
